WISE Full Scholarship Requirements


WISE Full Scholarship recipients will meet the following requirements:

  • Technical
    • Meet technology requirements from home
    • Return the laptop on temporary or permanent withdrawal from the program
  • Scholastic
    • Complete the 902 initial school library license, including the practicum. The scholarships are automatically renewed each semester until the student completes the license or the program ends on July 31, 2012.
    • Take one course each semester and one or two during each summer.
    • Arrange practicum experiences according to the home campus requirements. This may involve planning and working with your district to arrange time off.
    • Attend a two-day introductory session.
    • Maintain a 3.0 GPA each semester.
    • Meet the GPA requirement for entering the practicum at your home campus.
  • Employment
    • Seek employment in undeserved areas of the state where it is difficult to fill positions
    • Inform UWSSLEC of job placement for at least three years after completing the program
  • Financial
    • Pay the distance fee of $210 per course individually
    • Be in good financial standing with the home campus' financial services office
    • If a scholarship student drops a class, it must be pre-approved by UWSSLEC and the computer returned to UWSSLEC. If a class is dropped after the official University drop date, the student will be charged whatever fees and tuition that campus Student Accounts assigns and no scholarship funds will be applied. (Subject to Medical Exception on Review)
    • If a scholarship student fails to complete a class resulting in a failure, the student is liable for the full tuition amount for the course. No scholarship funds will be applied and the laptop must be returned. (Subject to Medical Exception on Review)
  • Professional
    • Participate in the Wisconsin Educational Media and Technology Association (WEMTA) and attend at least one of its conferences during the two years of the scholarship
    • Pay for a year of WEMTA student membership and receive one year free
    • Work with a community organization or institution to share information about digital environments and 21st Century Skills in a services project
    • Share ideas from coursework with teachers and administrators in your district

WISE Partial Scholarship Requirements

WISE Partial Scholarship recipients will meet the following requirements:

  • Technical
    • Meet the technology requirements from home.
  • Scholastic:
